California Fire Prevention Organization will parter with the Calistoga Fire Department to offer FREE smoke alarms for Calistoga residents. Following the devastating fires that have impacted so many people in nearby communities, helping Calistoga residents is just one small way our organization can help.
“We’re going to provide free smoke alarms, CO detectors, family escape plans, and instruction on how to safety get out of the house to as many residents as possible,” Cameron Barrett, MySafe:CA Education Officer said as plans were being put in place for the two-day event. “We’re very committed to public safety in Calistoga,” David Edward Svoboda, the Liaison between California Fire Prevention Organization and Calistoga fire added.
The event will take place over a two day period of time – September 30 and October 1, 2016. Up to 600 smoke alarms will be installed, and an additional 200 smoke alarms will be provided to the Calistoga Fire Department to keep in quarters and/or on their apparatus. If you live in Calistoga and need a smoke alarm, you can pick one up for FREE from the Calistoga Fire Department. California Fire Prevention Organization has already donated 200 smoke alarms to the Department. “It may seem like $30,000 in smoke alarms is a big deal, but it’s just the first step in helping to promote public safety,” Officer Barrett noted. “Budgets are still tight, and firefighters are being engaged with wildfire unlike anytime in recent memory. We’re going to do whatever we can to help.”
